Hybrid content management means additional support

No code/ low code means more control over your content
The goal here is that you don’t need a Computer Science degree, or full-time developers to create pages on your site.
Heavy focus on user experience
With a primary focus on end-user experience, you can deliver the quality content your customers want and need.
dotCMS products
Content pallet with drag and drop
The visual layout makes managing your page and content much more streamlined. Rather than clicking, searching, and locating components/images, you’ll have them in full view and be able to drag and drop whatever it is that particular container needs whether it’s a new banner image or a specific product.
This really speeds up the process of building pages, because it allows for instant creation.
Importing with bundles using dotCMS command line
You’ll now be able to import in bundles (a bundle holds content type, files, etc.)
What does this mean?
Basically, you create a ‘bundle’ of objects within your git repository. The command line allows you to push your content types and multilingual files/languages to the interface. This is where you can store them in a Git repo, which you’ll then be able to push to dotCMS instances, as they change.
The best part is that dotCMS uses deterministic identifiers, which calculates where each batch lives on site within dotCMS.
This means you can use command line interface to build your base then push all of the code that is important to your implementations across environments without conflict. You heard us right, publishing between those environments will not conflict. This is because you’ll be able to build the pipeline to save code within a Git repository.
Unlimited fields in content
The idea is that by storing content with JSON, you’ll be able to store any/all content, so users can rely on a global cloud-based database. In laymen terms: you have unlimited space!
Additional agile improvements
- Content listing with thumbnails
- Option to change default language from UI (you’ll automatically be asked a preference)
- Secure password generator
- Improved content listing screen
- Story block content editor (release date tba)
- Moving away from Gradle to Maven (a Java standard, as it allows more flexibility)
- Improved content search
There you have it, dotCMS is full of promising capabilities and the best part is it’s all user-focused. Not only that, the team let it slip that they have even more innovative changes/solutions in the works for 2023 and we are ready for it!
